Re: matrix grid shown on first autodev
Hello Ivo I have waited to find an example of the multi-coloured images - and one came up today. To be fair, it is from a raw 5-minute exposure with no bias/flat/dark modifications - so it is not representative. It has been AD+wipe+AD and that produced the effect. I tried increasing the dark anomaly...

Re: matrix grid shown on first autodev
"The manual linked in the Download section (as well as by clicking on the PDF icon in the "transform" tool bar will always give you the latest version of the manual/content). Would you be open to letting me use this data as an example in the manual of how StarTools highlights latent patterns? It wou...

Re: Query about intro to ST
Hello Ivo I understand your explanation so I assume that the conclusion is that to obtain the best 'final' picture, some initial tests should be done on any bright object (such as M42) to determine the maximum exposure that does not saturate the core, and then produce an image from adding multiple s...

Query about intro to ST
I am puzzled about the following sentence that appears in the introduction to ST. "For example, StarTools enables you to keep M42's colour constant throughout, even in its bright core. No fiddling with different exposure times, masked stretching or saturation curves needed... " If one takes an image...

Re: matrix grid shown on first autodev
Hello Ivo Thank you so much for your excellent explanation and commentary. Please feel free to use the samples as you see fit. (Lovely pun - FIT). We all want to progress with our image processing. Debayer comment noted; this was prepared for me by a software writer from his main program because I d...

Re: matrix grid shown on first autodev
https://www.dropbox.com/sh/aw6l0xfd3r1r2uu/AAC4ckVE_2GWB9kk4-4Cfc78a?dl=0 If I have set this up correctly, there should be two files in 'Startools samples', GBRG and GRBG. The suggestion from Terry Platt (SX) is that GRBG should be the correct one (unfiltered reddish). MY concern is that the only wa...

Re: matrix grid shown on first autodev
Without having an ability to interpret the results I am unable to progress. I have been using an alternative program to examine the images previously referred to. They do show that using Bayer settings of GBRG and also GRBG the images can be zoomed in to 200% and then show only noise - but no matrix...

Re: matrix grid shown on first autodev
Hello Ivo Many thanks for your quick reply; it enables me to know what to look for. I found the relevant bit in the new manual. However, the first image gives different results to the second image with identical debayering. The first (M42) image debayered using GRBG gives consistent zoom level resul...

Re: matrix grid shown on first autodev
I have had another look at the (apparently) new manual regarding this. Most curiously, different zoom levels on the images (one image per selected Bayer matrix option) shows different results at different zoom levels - so I am more confused than before I asked the question! One zoom level shows clea...

Re: matrix grid shown on first autodev
Hello Ivo The full details: I am using one image of 5 minutes so that the basic flow can be validated for me. The first process is to deBayer the raw (colour) image. There are 4 possibilites: RGGB, BGGR, GBRG, GRBG. I tried using the output of each of these selections (using a deBayer program) to se...
