Re: My first Narrowband Image

I realised that there isn't much Sii in the Witch's Broom, so I thought it might be interesting to use the Sii as a Luminance channel for a Bicolour image with synthetic green. Here's my result, again I'm sure it can be done so much better! Loading red channel data File loaded in LRGB module [C:\Use...

My first Narrowband Image

So I am still getting to grips with StarTools. I was wondering if anyone would be kind enough to try processing my data and see if they can get a better result than I did! This is my first time ever capturing, stacking and processing a narrowband image. I know that there's more there to get and I do...

Re: CROP with keep aspect ratio

This would be great for a "final crop". It seems to me that for StarTools purposes, the crop module is mainly for getting rid of edge stacking artefacts, so it's very precise but not designed to give you specific ratios. I actually really like how precise it is. However it would be great to have a "...

Re: OSX startup issue

Oh hey, I am fine with it — it just took me a while to work it out. I didn’t see it anywhere in a readme or instruction — might be worth documenting for dumb Mac users so that they know what to do (or they can search and find this thread ;-)

Re: OSX startup issue

Oh, here's an interesting delta. If you have the whole distro directory under /Applications then it works. You can double-click on /Applications/distro/StarTools.app and the app opens and runs just fine. That seems odd for an OSX app -- it should be self-contained within its .app -- but at least it ...

Re: OSX startup issue

Just to be clear, I've done what's mentioned in https://www.startools.org/downloads/macos-notes and I am using the latest bleeding edge build 1.4.352

OSX startup issue

Typically on a Mac one would copy the .app file to the /Applications directory and then open it from there, however this doesn't seem to work with StarTools. The only way that I can get it working on the Mac is to have the whole 'distro' directory somewhere and execute from the command line with: ./...

Re: Help needed, Monochrome Data

Ivo, I was using exactly the same version on both Windows and OSX. My good results were on OSX, my bad results were on Windows -- but I've a feeling that it was actually user error! I think I was using the wrong files on Windows. I run both Windows and OSX on my MacBook, using Apple's "Boot Camp". I...

Re: Help needed, Monochrome Data

Ok, so that's interesting. It's not dissimilar to what I was trying previously. I tried just what you did, and got the same result -- on the MacBook I'm using at the moment. But on the Windows machine that I was using yesterday, the results were nothing like this. Is it possible that exactly the sam...

Re: Help needed, Monochrome Data

Wow, that's a definite improvement on what I was able to achieve! (I'm not looking for perfection, just something better than ridiculously bad, which is what I was getting). The data is very imperfect, this is LPLondon with just a CLS filter, but I was expecting to at least match what DSS/Gimp can d...
