Re: Why does SVDecon affect non-masked areas?
Thanks again Mike. In which case, my preference is the old regime! I've spotted that after SVD, the entire image is 'lifted' somewhat. I don't like that my nice, dark space suddenly seems to have had some sort of gain applied to it. I do however really like the way it firms up my stars. So if there'...

Re: Not getting the results I'd like with LHaRGB
Cool - here's the non-Frankenstein Ha file, just made up of the 105s exposures: https://1drv.ms/u/s!AqovBuVZMwj3k4gErlmNhLsFoQS56A?e=6fbEna Interesting that you also need to go that far with the Wipe. I never needed to with the old DSLR but can totally see that the ASI1600 is more sensitive. I'm in ...

Re: Read integration times from FITS file headers for Compose module
I know that APP and DSS do this - seems to be a field called Temporal.IntegrationTime in the FITS metadata with the aggregate time from all the subs. The standard FITS Image Headers from APP and DSS also seem to have a field, EXPTIME, with the same value. That's a good start! I honestly don't know a...

Re: Why does SVDecon affect non-masked areas?
I think it helps, I'm not sure! So, specifically, in SVDecon, are you saying that when stars are masked, these are just being used as samples for the algorithm, which then applies processing to the entire image? Because that would account for why the entire image is affected, even the dark space bet...

Re: Not getting the results I'd like with LHaRGB
Thank you again Ivo, this is really helpful. :) Re the Ha exposures, strangely I noticed that the shortest and longest were best after testing. Then, like a fool, I decided just to throw them all into the mix. I might split them out and see what effect that has. Re the Wipe amount, well Mike in Ranc...

Why does SVDecon affect non-masked areas?
Hi,
I select the SVDecon Module, I auto-generate mask, it selects the stars... and then, the space between the stars seems to change too.
Why is this? I'd have thought masking just the stars should process just the stars?
Thanks
Brendan

Read integration times from FITS file headers for Compose module
Title says it all really!
Would be great if StarTools could read these details and auto-compile them into the Compose module.
Thanks, Brendan

Re: Not getting the results I'd like with LHaRGB
Here's what I came up with after following Ivo's log, plus sharp, HDR etc. I think I still need a couple more goes at this, but definitely this is much closer to what I had in mind. Honeyview_lhargb.jpg I didn't really know what I was doing with the Visual Spectrum Narrowband Accent Compositing, but...

Re: Not getting the results I'd like with LHaRGB
Outstanding, thank you Ivo. I'll check this later but it does look a lot better already - much more along the lines I was expecting, especially with all that lovely Ha around the centre of the Cigar.
