Hi Chris. 16 bit is OK and quick to process. The RAW data is 12 or 14bit. 32 bit is probably unecessary and just processing overhead for floating point maths from what I can gather. Not sure the visual difference is detectable.

Your experience with Wipe is not a shortcoming of Startools or Pixinsight. It's a difference. I see it often when importing imsges from Pixinsight. The easy way out is to use DBE or ABE and then import to Startools to complete post processing. Other preprocessing programs dont seem to be a problem f...

More sub frames will help in this case. You may also find that images of short composition lacking adequate background values benefit from binning to ~50%. This should improve the wipe result, as well as reduce noise 4x, from memory.

Thanks Guy. Glad you found the problem. I like the image - it does show a lot more than we usually see. Some thoughts: When using Superpixel mode - do you get coloured fringes as Michael Covington describes in his notes on Superpixel mode ? It depends on the gradient between light and dark. Star rim...
