Re: M 42
Thanks, Mike! I was watching the satellite loop and it appeared things were clearing out for the night, with the clouds all starting to pass to my north, heading southeast. That opens up Orion just fine. I took the mount outside and plopped it down on its marks, but looked up and saw clouds to my no...
M 42
We got one more clear night here. And which winter target can be finished in one night? Right, the Orion Nebula: https://cdn.astrobin.com/thumbs/hKa3C3kqi_Ny_16536x0_ieTZ0INm.jpg See https://www.astrobin.com/qe320u/ for technical details. Actually I collected some 10 sec shots for the core but didn'...
Re: M 78
Thanks for your feedback, guys. Tried to reply earlier but yesterday the forum was down I guess. In terms of ringing that may be SVD but in some cases it was probably me being pretty heavy handed on shrink as usual. I also collected some data on M 42. There I have quite some issues regarding rings a...
M 78
Last time I visited Orion (apart from visual) was in 2020 I guess. So it was about time and I went for M 78: https://cdn.astrobin.com/thumbs/jEBCFzHGGITG_16536x0_ieTZ0INm.jpg See https://www.astrobin.com/k695ak/ for technical details. Apart from M 78 I was able to image Barnard's Loop! ;) Well, not ...

Re: IC 434 Horsey Test
I didn't make any kind of saved gif, but of course I used the before and after toggle. But also as noted, since I knew I was going to NBA, I didn't try to stretch out the Ha captured in broadband and kept that in check. I'll see what I can make, though when I revisit processing again - likely after...

Re: IC 434 Horsey Test
Very appealing image, Mike. Stars look REALLY good, Alnitak is rarely handled that well. The flame is already too red IMHO. But otherwise you probably loose the NBA impact completely. Can you tell how much nebulosity is actually added by NBA? You don't happen to have a before/after image? :) I shoul...

Re: NGC 7380 and surroundings
I like your most recent rendition on astrobin, Freddy.
When you are using star removal you are probably doing that in PI, right? Is that on linear data or already stretched? Can you then process in ST with tracking on?

Stefan

Re: NGC 1499
Thanks, guys! Freddy, I am actually pretty happy with the color. I went for 'pure red' in NBAccent turning the pinkish color from the broadband data a bit less candyland ;) Can we consider it an optional way of showing things, without stepping too deep into art. I like that one, Mike  So y...

Re: M33 LRGBHa
Hi Mike, your first take looks pretty much like my first "image" of M 33   I very much enjoyed your recent renditions of M 33. As Dietmar already wrote, M 33 with the faint outer regions is not an easy one but you found a good balance. Of course I had bumped up the saturation via SS a...
