Reading through this section of the forum I know see that my stars don't have halos and are how the stars are truly meant to look with a tight centre and the glow around it. Thank you, I have been having a play all weekend so far and think I'm getfing somewhere slowly. Trying to work out a good workflow on this involving star tools and photoshop tweaks. Will post up my findings when finalised

Hi I am using star tools 1.8 and after using fringe killer in the filter module im left with a grey halo that i just cannot get rid of in any other module. The mask is very flexible to use, to deselect a DSO area select the lasso tool then start drawing your area to exclude by making sure the first pixel selected is in the mask i.e. green then when you complete drawing your shape everything within is now removed from the mask Hi Happy Kat Thank you, I...

Hello, Here's a trick I use for that situation. If, say, the DSO core got selected when building the star mask, I deselect the core by clicking on the masked area with "flood lighter pixels" enabled. Deselecting dso core on a star mask
Hi
When I come to do the shrink module for the stars to enable classic mode and create a mask for the stars it selects the core of the dso and other elements I want to keep untouched by the module. How do I deselect these and keep the stars masked.

Just to say I've found the correct setting now in the wipe function uding the synthetic darks and flats and choosing adaptive horizontal banding.

I can't seem to find the banding module in the latest version of star tools 1.7.461. I was hoping to use this on the horizontal banding I get from my Canon 600D, is there another way of removing the banding ftom my images.
