Re: OSC Image...Is this beyond repair? :)

Hi Ivo, It's the Cat Eye Nebula. Obviously, the nebula must be very faint, because I saw a picture of a professional observatory from Canary Islands, and it was about 7 hours. Also, I need to do new flats, they're over 6 months old, and obviously, that is a problem. The other thing I just discovered...

OSC Image...Is this beyond repair? :)

Hi Ivo, I took this image from my light polluted location, and it's over 2 hours. In this instance, I'm using my regulated CCD OSC camera with an LP filter. I think it's pretty bad, but just in case, I wanted to run it through you. https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/8971416/integration.fit ....& if...

Question about HaOIII-RGB

Hi Ivo, Thanks to your guiding, I've learned how to process an HaRGB image, so I understand the work flow. Now, if I wanted to add OIII to the same workflow, how would I do it? How will the workflow I've learned for HaRGB would be different if I added OIII signal to the HaRGB? Thanks for your help, M.

Re: Building a new system

Thanks for the tip on astrobin. I appreciate it.

I noticed one more thing on your flow. How did you split group stars? I saw that in one of Ivo's videos but I'm not clear on the process. Thanks for your tips & advise. M.

Re: Building a new system

Hi Gordon,

What a great shot & thank you for sharing the flow. How did you do the annotation?

Nice job! The stars are very punctual and the colors are right on. Nicely done!

M.

Re: Building a new system

Hi again, I went ahead and downloaded a nifty utility called CristalkDiskMark to do a benchmark test on my hard disk and my ram disk. The low numbers belong to the hard disk and the high numbers belong to the ram disk. As you can see, the ram disk is a killer set up. It's incredibly fast. Cheers, M.

Re: Building a new system

OK, so I loaded an RGB image of the Heart Nebula. Each RGB image was 22mb which it was the size that came out of the CCD after integration and cropping the black edges after integration. The results now are as follow: RAMDISK autodev: 0.5 seconds wipe: 6 seconds decon: 5 seconds bin: 2 seconds devel...
