Alatir Quadband and ST 1.6 beta
I thought it may be worth sharing an image I took using a Altair Quadband filter. It is quite noisy but then it is only 52mins worth. I did not get the integration time I really wanted although I had the clear skies. The reasons for that is a whole story on its own; funny shaped stars turned out to ...

Re: Banding
Hi Ivo I think I have found the cause and it seems to be a "feature" of the sensor. If I take 20 odd flat frames and create a master frame then process that master frame in ST I get the 1/4th horizontal division-like pattern. so by adding (subtracting?) flat frames during stacking the bands do not a...

Re: Banding
Hi Thanks for reply. I have not been dithering but did give it a try with no improvements. The dithering was very limited on the night I tried and I had other issues trying to dither. Looking at the width of the banding I assume that I would have to dither very aggressively for the stacker to random...

Banding
I am not sure where to post this so Have put it under the heading of Bug Reports I do not think it is a bug in Startools but it is unexpected behavior. I have been using my Olympus OMD-EM1MKII camera reasonably successfully for a couple of years but since early November 2019 I am getting a colour ba...

Re: Processing IC1805 & IC1848 can it be improved?
I have had a longer play with this image following your (Ivo) suggestions. I found it fiddly to get the right size ROI for the second AutoDev. If I do not bin I find that the second AutoDev gives me a better (darker) background albeit increased processing time. Because I am showing this image on the...

Re: Processing IC1805 & IC1848 can it be improved?
Wait, how does DSS not white-balance the image here? :? I've never seen a blue background when autodeveloping autodevelop with a DSS 3.3.4 image from RAW! Was it luck? DSS only white balances canons and Nikons but leaves Olympus alone? Without the filter I get red/orange for the first Auto Dev usin...

Processing IC1805 & IC1848 can it be improved?
Hi I am fairly new to astrophotography and have been using Startools for less than a year. What an amazing product it is squeezing out all those galactic pixels into amazing images. I have also found this forum helpful and informative. My humble equipment fits Ivo’s ethos of providing a low cost pro...
