IC 1805

I had some great seeing with this one. What I find intriguing is the way the star colors are filtered through the intervening interstellar material.

Re: Star halo effect

Thanks for tip. I'm finding more options in the mask creation process that are helpful. I have relegated the experimental diagonal holder to the junk box and put in a 4 vane spider instead. Traditional it is and of course gives a symmetrical star pattern to work with.

Star halo effect

So I have this colorful shot of Barnard 343. I would like to rein in the more extensive halo effect of the brighter stars. The usual magic and repair options seem inadequate for the job. http://astrob.in/114829/B/rawthumb/gallery/get.jpg [/url] See AstroBin for details about the picture. The interes...

Best Computer System for Proccessing

I am using an W7 HP Pavilion Laptop w 8G ram that is 4 years old for my work. In looking to the future what should I be looking for in a computer system to replace it? Reasonably priced of course!

Re: 35 mm Slide Conversion

Many of the photos were of a total lunar eclipse in 1969. A very colorful one. Taken with an 8" F6 Cave reflector on Kodacrome slide film. I suspect that there has been some color drift caused by aging of the film. How to correct that will be one issue. The longest exposure was 55s @ totality. How n...

35 mm Slide Conversion

:?: I'm getting some Astro slides from the 60's scanned into 48 bit Tiffs. Will STools open these or will I need to convert to something else, and how?

Re: Colorful Aristarchus

Thanks for taking the time to look at this and detailing the work flow so well. :bow-yellow: Now I see what some of those sliders can do. I definitely see the improvement in the highlight issue. I was able to replicate your results on the first go! Question. What is the theory behind binning @ 80.1%...

Re: My latest NGC 2403

Real nice. One thing I'd like to get a better handle on is how to cleanly shrink the stars a bit more. I seem to get haze round mine. :? Great shot, the color module works so much nicer now  On AstroBin one can pretty well tell who's using ST's now on galaxies at a glance. :!:
