Here is my version, taken a few days ago, a little pinker than I would have liked:

Optimal PC for Startools
Hi, I am thinking about getting a new PC (laptop or Desktop) and wonder if there is an optimal configuration, beyond which it is not worth going for running Startools> I currently run Startools on a Dell Inspiron 620 : Intel(R) Core(TM) i3-2100 CPU @ 3.10GHz, 3100 Mhz, 2 Core(s), 4 Logical Processor...

Re: M31
It might be useful for you to know that I captured this M31 image using similar equipment. https://astrob.in/378298/0/ I took 60 x 60 secs exposures plus 60 each of Darks, Flats & Bias frames using a Canon 1100d with a 300mm f4. Your 300mm lens is f6.4 which lets in 2.5 x lets light (log scale) your...

Re: A more subtle M27
Ivor, Based on your comments and the idea that less is more and to avoid doctoring I tried again with minimal, but effective processing. (I attach the log file, but version 1.5 seems to have put a lot of rubbish characters, when viewed in a text editor). (tried to upload log but got The extension lo...

Re: A more subtle M27
Ivo, Thanks very much for doing that. Yes I can confirm that the fts file came straight out of DSS with no processing. I have out the original data in dropbox here: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/5y3v96zfaw2gkt0/AAA7kOo91RhgHwVNhEogOg7xa?dl=0 This contains 80 x 60 secs lights + 20 Darks + 20 Flats. thes...

A more subtle M27
I need to learn how to use Startools in a more subtle manner. I recently processed an M27 stacked image in Startools and although it brought out more detail it lost the subtlety of the original. Below is a comparison, the top file is M27 straight from DSS. I just opened it in Startools and saved as ...
