Re: How to de-ring in v1.9 alpha vs v1.8

Thank you Cytan, Yes, I used dither, bias and dark frames. Everything was done by the "book". It could be that the STF8300C is just very noisy. I did cool it to -15 degC though. Hmmm.... multi-pixel co-located defects like these should not be happening in that case; :( One thing I haven't tried actu...

Re: How to de-ring in v1.9 alpha vs v1.8

Thank you for uploading that. This dataset is the absolute worst case scenario for SV Decon. The noise correlation is extreme; noise clumps/grain are almost as big as the stars; 2023-05-24_14-34.jpg Did you dither and use bias and/or dark frames? Noise grain should ideally be single pixel in size......

Re: How to de-ring in v1.9 alpha vs v1.8

Were the same samples used between both versions? It appears the 1.8 deringing is set rather aggressively (possibly indicating an issue with the samples or settings), however the 1.9 version's point lights do not appear to be as well coalesced as the 1.8 version (possibly due to only 10x iterations ...

Re: StarTools 1.9 preview

Thank you happy-kat, 1.9.551 GPU win trying SVD to see if my stars are better liked but when I view sampling the stars are all starfish (except for the comet). That's actually a good thing! :) The more pixels from the tapering-off stellar profile are include in the sample, the better. The more pixel...

Forget Holmberg IV; NGC 5474 looks amazing here!

Re: The double cluster

Thanks Dietmar, Interesting reading stuff. I encountered yesterday also the strange artifacts in the stars (black eyed artifact) which again could be solved by centroid tracking setting. And on some occasion not. Indeed in many cases just syntethic profile works as good. I think in testing yesterda...

Re: Flux module crash

Many thanks for the log!

I think I fixed the issue in the latest upload (build 551). Do let me know if the issue persists!

Re: StarTools 1.9 preview

Thank you all for the feeback! The TIFF file was a debugging remnant. I removed it for the latest upload; alpha "lucky" 13. :) You can now find it in the download section. I feel I'm finally nearing the end of this development cycle. 1. First go through I got a mess of a sampling mask. Fe...

Re: Flux module crash

I'm having a bear of a time replicating this... :(
Does this still happen with 1.9.550? (just released)

Re: StarTools 1.9 preview

Ok, 1.9.550 is up. Carlesa25 see if this works better for your datasets. A fair bit of work has gone into SV decon in general. De-ringing should be much improved. It's now not so much an "amount "any more, but rather a continuum of different "looks". I am trying to get away with just one parameter, ...
