Re: DSS vs Nebulosity vs ???
Hi All, I have been trying to follow this thread and have read it several times :!: I have downloaded the 9.17 dcraw and tried to run it. All it does is flash what I assume is a dos window at me and disappears. :confusion-shrug: Should it remain open for me to input one of the suggested strings :?: ...

M82 before and after the supernova
Hi all
I have managed to do some of my data and some of hubble as well for this target. The resolution difference is astonishing.
This is from the hubble data before the SN.
And this is my data from a few frames I managed while the SN was visible.

NGC 4565 Hubble data
Well if it's not raining it's misty here in the UK so I want to keep my hand in with startools by doing some more hubble data.
This is NGC 4565

Re: M51 Hubble data
Thanks Ivo, that is quite a compliment coming from you. I only did the easy bit, NASA did the hard part.admin wrote:
That's amazing. I bet that's a very unique view no one else has ever seen before. If only the 'hidden treasures' contest was still on.

Re: M51 Hubble data
Very impressive! I wouldn't mind seeing your log on this personally. Cheers, Tom Thanks Tom. The first thing is to load and process the individual files. R G and B. Having found green is a problem you might use it as an L channel. These files are 400mb each and the first thing I had to do was bin a...

Re: M51 Hubble data
Hi Ivo All I could do was not to use auto develop but bring up develop manually until I could see the panes beginning to appear and then back off a bit. I also kept trying to get the colour where I wanted it, using RGB, but was not liking the results. I finally just used red and blue which c...

M51 Hubble data
Hi Ivo With the weather the way it is in the UK at the moment I thought I would have a go at another hubble data set. I chose M51 and looked for the download files which are 400mb each. I assumed that the numbers for each were the Nm wave length and I have started with 683 as red. I managed to get s...

Re: Hubble Space Telescope IC 434 repro
OK Ivo
Here is what I have managed with the new program update and the alternative data set.
Still can't get it as good as yours.
OMG that looks rubbish when displaying such a small file. The full size does look a bit better.

Re: Hubble Space Telescope IC 434 repro
I shall try all that out tomorrow as I am busy shooting the supernova in M82 at the moment.
