Re: First LRGB image - strange RGB glows around edges
Hi Mike, Right, well, this is brilliant. I am so grateful. I was freaking out initially, not really knowing where to start. The ASTAP recommendation is a good one, and I'm going to learn more about that. I do need some quick way of analysing lots of subs, and that could be the one. There's field rot...

Re: First LRGB image - strange RGB glows around edges
OK, so first up, here's the link to the individual calibration subs, as requested: https://1drv.ms/u/s!AqovBuVZMwj3kucbF1cFtV8hbx-gxw?e=vwbD6T I've already done some work on flats and dark flats, and have new versions that have 2+ seconds' exposure time. I know the flats might not be quite properly ...

Re: First LRGB image - strange RGB glows around edges
Wow. Thank you so much Mike, this is incredibly helpful. I'll try and go through your points but I'm finding the quote feature irksome so I'm just going to use italics... I was bored so I downloaded them all in small chunks, folder by folder, and that worked a bit better. Though still slowly. - no i...

Re: First LRGB image - strange RGB glows around edges
I heavily cropped around the edges, and I don't think the Wipe module could fix this. It's a real problem somewhere along the line, between acquisition, calibration and processing. I don't know if it's hardware, software, filters, camera, whatever. I'm stumped. And a bit worried.

Re: First LRGB image - strange RGB glows around edges
So I've been looking into this and frankly, I'm stumped. This is worrying. I've been through everything and I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong. Would anyone have the time and/or inclination to take a look at my masters, and ten each of my LRGB subs, and let me know if there's anything glaringly...

First LRGB image - strange RGB glows around edges
Hi all, I've recently moved from DSLR to mono imaging. I'm getting the hang of narrowband, but my first LRGB image is something of a disappointment. It's NGC 4236 which I've captured a bit of before, and love its blue disc, so I thought it would be a good first LRGB target to compare with. It came o...

Re: First narrowband image not very impressive!
Thanks again Mike. I took a shedload of S2 and O3 last night to see if I can balance things out a bit, as you suggest. I've decided to concentrate on this one object so that I can compare like with like - different channel combos, Moon phases, exposure times etc - and learn how my kit behaves. I thi...

Re: First narrowband image not very impressive!
Thank you Mike! I managed to get some more Ha last night under better conditions, before the Moon came up, so let's see what I can conjure up this time. You're right about the learning curve... all over again...! The separate denoising software is really a throwback to my DSLR days. I would really l...

First narrowband image not very impressive!
Hi all, I've recently made the leap from DSLR (modded EOS1000D) to mono (ASI1600MM Cool with EFW). After the expected teething troubles, everything seems to be working OK. However, the first results are in and they're a bit disappointing! This is the very last shot I got with the Canon - SH2-155, th...
