Re: Milky Way Processing
Wow! I learned quite abit from this thread, thanks to both of you for posting and sharing, very helpful. One question though, if I might? Ivo, why did you choose 'Non-linear sRGB source' for the data? Which (if I've understood correctly) was a DSS fits file from a stack of Canon raw files? This is t...

Re: Help needed, Monochrome Data
Sorry! Don't know anything about Apple machines, but Ivo might drop by and give his take on this. I would have expected identical results.
Anyway glad if it has helped a bit.

Re: Help needed, Monochrome Data
It was only a quick and dirty version of Richard Konrad's work flow (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tNidlGREqJ8&feature=youtu.be and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PPoJ-lMwctA&feature=youtu.be) and I missed a few steps along the way; masking could definitely be improved and so could decon and shar...

Re: Help needed, Monochrome Data
I have had a quick go with your data, Simon and put the result below. To save space and reduce noise it's binned 50%.
Not sure if it's much of an improvement, see what you think?

Re: Wavelet denoise introducing dark artefacts in stars
The camera is astro modded to allow more of the red through and, for that image, was attached to a Canon 200 mm EF f2.8 II lens. Focusing to get the 'extra' red tight with the other channels is always a bit of a compromise, even using live view and 10 x magnification on the laptop screen. I'll try a...

Re: Wavelet denoise introducing dark artefacts in stars
Individual subs are Canon raw files (.CR2) captured using Astrophotography Tool. Stacked in Deep Sky Stacker with bias and flat frames with all the options unchecked. If you need the data I can put the subs and master calibration files in a Dropbox folder? I think the Undo Background issue arose bec...

Re: Wavelet denoise introducing dark artefacts in stars
Tried the Mask solution you mentioned, but, perhaps as this is post tracking switch off, can't get Fat Stars or Layer Module 'undo background' to perform as neither seems to be active? It's not a great problem and I fixed it in PhotoPaint quite quickly with the clone brush. Incidentally, looking at ...
