Re: Ha RGB Processing a few issues!

Hello Ivo thanks again for replying. Yes the flat was taken last week after the data. I use a Gert Neumann flat panel. I did use some baader cleaner on my front lens a while ago I know it’s a no-no but what’s done is done! I guess my only option now is to bite the bullet and clean it again but wipe ...

Re: Ha RGB Processing a few issues!

It's a really odd signature, but definitely not "real" AFAIK. Can you replicate the issue? Perhaps it's an iffy filter set/coating? Anyway I love your rendition above Ivo, can't believe how much detail you've teased out of it I'll have a go myself today. Andy It's excellent, deep data. It just keep...

Re: Ha RGB Processing a few issues!

Thank you Ivo, yes sorry you've answered it twice, I put it out to the SGL community as a general question not knowing you frequent there. Re my poor RGB data, there was definitely no dew or clouds about. I'm not experienced enough to look at that stretched G output and say whether that looks wrong ...

Ha RGB Processing a few issues!

Hello. Long time owner but hardly had any time to do anything for years but got some data this week for the Heart Nebula Ha and RGB, about 90 mins each with darks flats and dark flats. Data here along with my best output from Startools https://www.dropbox.com/sh/fpijc9ejhkxrz7r/AAAKfozTM55uWVF2bq7t5...

Re: Startools Vs Photoshop clone

Hi Ivo, thanks so much for that, that is actually much improved I'm really impressed! The key for me was seeing exactly what you did though; it didn't occur to me to use the Dark Anomaly filter (I don't really understand what it does even having read the notes) but setting a ROI makes total sense no...

Re: Startools Vs Photoshop clone

Hi, so I've had another go with much the same results, but hopefully the files are sorted now. Thanks for having a look! Startools Vs Photoshop clone

I'm still struggling a bit with Star tools what with my 3 monthly harvest of not very good data and regular re-immersion into the world of image processing having not looked at it for months so it's always one step forward but 2 backwards but here's an example of how I must be just missing the point...

Re: Narrowband processing and general questions

Thanks Chris, I'm steering well away from Pixinsight for now, but thank you so much for the steer on Affinity Photo. Perhaps that, along with SG Pro, DSS, PHD2 and Star Tools just might be all the complicated software I need... for now! Re the levels, yes I understood what needed to be done I guess ...

Re: Narrowband processing and general questions

You really need to normalise the background levels first, then you could stretch the signal if one channel is particularly weak. I'm feeling a bit thick here, but I keep reading this section and though I know what it means and what needs to be done, how/what do you use to do this bit of preprocessi...
