Re: Beginner looking for advice - M31
Hi, that's not a bad starting point! Most probably you'll just need more light frames I made an attempt with your stacking 22_done.jpg I'm not completely satisfied, anyway, here are a few considerations 0. Before wiping I've noticed that there is a light fall at the edges ... but you have used flats...

Re: Saving work in Star Tools while keeping Tracking active?
+1 for this or alternatives (see below) I don't need to save tracking data all the times but sometime I need to go along a path to understand whether params in several modules are ok, so I need one of the three - save tracking data - more undo levels - "re-playing" the log file up to a certain point...

Re: astro pixel processor
thank you for the tips!! I'm using a DIY flatbox but I'm considering buying one and the results are ... meh not perfect but maybe slightly better than a PC screen (I've noticed that PC screens might not have a uniform illumination) I'm still learning and I should attempt to work with better frames (...

Re: binning to speedup processing
Hi, after our discussion I went studying my FWHM well, I used the FWHM results from DSS and ... well they are quite disappointingly above 6". After this finding I started improving my guiding and then I tried making frames at 30, 60, 120 and 240s to see if guiding (which, btw, was not bad, at 2/3 of...

Re: astro pixel processor
Hi Rowland!! I have all my data on dropbox, do you need original lights + calibration files? I can share everything (I'm not jelous ;) ), including the final FITS so you can check your result with DSS stacked one And, btw, anyone who wants to process the files is welcome LIGHT: https://www.dropbox.c...

Re: astro pixel processor
Short news: I used the dark anomalies settings for another picture where wipe had problems in a a couple of picture points and ... worked like a charm!! than you for the tip! just a question: what about using the detect/remove of cold/hot pixels in DSS for this purpose? the problem is that I use a c...

Re: astro pixel processor
Thank you Ivo!! unfortunately APP trial is no longer valid, and, btw, stacking on DSS did not create these problems in Startools. Thit make me think that dark anomalies are not at the core of the problem, maybe something else? APP is a bit "opaque" in its settings, there might be some of them that s...
