Stacking additional exposures in DSS actual made image worse
The night before last I took two hours of SH2-101 with my Atik 420c and hyperstar. However, the resulting image was very dim. http://www.astrobin.com/111145/ So last night I tried to add 2 more hours of exposure time. The resultant DSS stack is actually noisier than the first version with only two h...

Re: Color Module Tends to Eliminate Faint Nebula
Hi, thank you very much for making your data available. I think it's excellent  and had lots of fun trying to find out how far I could push it... testm20v3_BJD.jpg Clear skies Benedikt Wow that is a lot better than even I ended up with after learning how to use colors. http://www.astrobin...

Re: Color Module Tends to Eliminate Faint Nebula
Ok its looking a little better. I'm really having trouble keeping the blue in the reflection nebula so I toned down the reduction from 1.66 in green and blue to 1.33 and I also moved up the dark saturation.

Re: Color Module Tends to Eliminate Faint Nebula
To make sure I understand what you did. I made a fat star mask and hit sample. Then I noted the values in my case reduce green and blue by 1.66. I canceled out of color. Went back into color and hit fill mask and applied those values.

Forum E-Mail Change
Not a Startools bug per se but I was curious if it was possible to change the e-mail for my forum username so that it matches the e-mail I purchased Startools with. I assume I need to re-register?

Color Module Tends to Eliminate Faint Nebula
I have developed kind of a love hate relationship with the color module. On one hand it fixes blue background noise but on the other it tends to be hard to use and forces color from faint areas to brighter areas especially in "scientific mode". This alone isn't bad but I still want to be able to hav...

Possible bug in LRGB
I noticed when I tried to use the LRGB function, in 224, with this image (https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/614 ... %206888.7z) the stars are slightly misaligned rendering the image un-processable. However, the layer module overlays the stars correctly.

Re: Achieving Color in Galaxies
You are correct. I'm not sure why I have so much vertical banding as this is the first time I have had that problem. I used 30 darks of equal exposure time to the lights shot at the same time on each night. I generally don't use bias frames.

Achieving Color in Galaxies
I have been evaluating image processing software to go with my new setup. Recently I discovered that I was still having problems with DSS due to the file save bug. I finally resolved the problem and learned through the help of the folks at cloudynights how to achieve color in my galaxy shots with ph...
