Strange color around edges of images
Hello, Included here is a stacked image of NGC 7129. I took a screenshot of the image stretched from Autodev, default settings. No additional processing at this point other than cropping out stacking artifacts from the edges. There's this very strange greenish color that runs around the edges of the...

Messier 99 - Virgo Pinwheel Galaxy
Here's another one where Im applying what I know now to image data I took then. Im really surprised at what I could glean from such a small set of subs. 10 x 45s light frames (7m 30s integration time) No darks, flats, bias frames. Imaging Date: 04-19-2021 Location: Tucson, AZ urban skies Camera: Ori...

Messier 27 - Dumbbell Nebula
I shot this quite some time ago, but I decided I wanted to reprocess the data and see if what I've learned since then might produce better results. I would say that it did, quite nicely. Object: Messier 27 - Dumbbell nebula Imaging date: 05-10-2021 Location: Tucson, AZ under urban skies Filtering: N...

Re: IC 434 Horsehead Nebula
The texturing in this image. Just breathtaking. Glorious.
It's a shame that a few thousand years from now, it won't look like that anymore.

Re: Colour Mottling / Background Noise (M31)
Oh, one more tip about combating mottled backgrounds. Assume the following workflow in Startools starting with your stacked image. Open as Linear, not white balanced, and so on so you can process luminance and color in tandem, sort of. 1. Autodev. Whatever default settings load. Keep it. 2. Go do an...
Re: M74 (Psc)
Very elegant. Pleasing on the eyes, remarkable detail, and a natural field.
I've taken a stab at M74 but focus was off at the time. Definitely worth a re-visit.
Very well done!

M13 - Globular Cluster in Hercules
The first globular cluster I ever saw with a telescope. It really messed with my head seeing this "snowball" of stars for the first time. Object: Messier Object 13 Common Name: Hercules Cluster Location: Tucson, AZ urban skies Imaging Date: 04-30-2021 Filtering: None Camera: Orion Starshoot G4 Color...

M8 - Lagoon Nebula
One of my favorite things to do has been revisiting previously captured data and applying what I've learned since then. It seems to me that the key to getting the most out of the whole astrophotography process, including Startools, is be patient with yourself and never give up. Object: Messier Objec...
