ngc2244 Rosette Nebula HST

I completed this tonight after waiting weeks for an opportunity. ngc2264 Rosette nebula in HST palette (10 x 1200s each of Ha, OIII and SII 3nM Astrodon). Each channel was processed separately in StarTools 1.4b prior to compositing and colour adjustments. Scope: NP127is + 0.8x reducer CCD: Atik490EX...

Re: M45 Pleiades (Merope nebula)

Like! Those bright stars are hard to keep under control. Did you have any problems with that? Thanks Ivo, there was not much I could do with the major stars so I just masked them out and left them as they were while applying decon to the nebulous stuff. It was not a good night to be doing this anyw...

M45 Pleiades (Merope nebula)

This is an RGB image taken tonight under a near-full moon (yes I know, I'm mad...). Trouble was the moon was sat on top of most of the other objects I'm currently imaging, well I have never imaged M45 before so thought I'd give it a shot. The result was some fairly noisy data (10 x 300s each channel...

Re: Lovejoy troubles...

Thank you, somehow I'm just really not happy with the results haha, maybe it's seeing all the other beautiful ones around with similar data. Those were 10 x 90seconds... I did however take 40 subs, I could try to stack them all... wasn't sure that would make a big difference. I also have 2x 300 sec...

Re: Lovejoy troubles...

Well to be honest your result looks good, especially given the short 90sec subs, and I couldn't get a significantly better image out of your data. I've been using 180 and 300sec subs and the histogram was still only 25-30%, that was using a Canon 70D. I also used an LPAS light pollution filter which...

IC405 Flaming Star Nebula in Ha

I aquired this back in October but it just won the BBC Hotshots POTM in this month's magazine. You can also preview at small scale here http://www.skyatnightmagazine.com/issue/february-2015 . Anyway, it was StarTools v1.3 that processed the data and in particular StarTools' wonderful noise reduction...

Re: NGC2244 Rosette bi-colour

Ok, I'll just come out and say it... *how* are you cranking out such amazing images in such rapid succession!? May I ask how long you've been doing this? Your processing is of a very high caliber (as I think I said before). If you don't mind, tells us a little about yourself! Thanks Ivo! In...
