Re: 1.7.430 alpha with new Super Structure module (Life replacement)
there are no longer any streaking in the images. Thank you so much for confirming this. This has helped me narrow down the problem; it is either a GPU memory allocation issue or - much more likely - a GPU timeout issue (e.g. GPU taking too long to process to the operating system's liking). I am hop...

Re: 1.7.430 alpha with new Super Structure module (Life replacement)
My GPU is AMD Radeon Pro 5500M with 8GB of memory. Can you confirm for me the Airy preset looks OK (e.g. just "fuzzy") when you try a smaller image? (say 1024x1024 or 512x512) Hi Ivo, I shrunk the original down by 25% in StarTools (version 1.7.440) and image is now 832x609. Airy preset looks fine h...

Re: 1.7.430 alpha with new Super Structure module (Life replacement)
I too see these weird streaks in both the airy and isolate module but not the dimsmall module. I'm running on a MacBook Pro 16. Thank you for reporting this. This is not expected behavior! Is your MacBook Pro using an RX5600M? Hi Ivo, My GPU is AMD Radeon Pro 5500M with 8GB of memory. cytan

Re: 1.7.430 alpha with new Super Structure module (Life replacement)
Hi Ivo, This is M31 with 3 hours of data that I just took on 30 Oct on a near full Moon night. It is clear that I still need more data. Be that as it may, there's artifacts and noise, but I wanted to try out the new superstructure module on it. I too see these weird streaks in both the airy and isol...

Please PM me. Glad to help.admin wrote:Many thanks! Very interesting. The crash does not seem GPU acceleration related at first glance. I may PM you about it a little later if that's OK.cytan299 wrote: Here's more info from my MacBook Pro 16.

Re: StarTools 1.6 Final, 1.7 Alpha w/GPU acceleration
Hi Ivo, Here's more info from my MacBook Pro 16. Here's the config from "About this Mac ...": about1.png Here's the info from StarTools about (it doesn't see the AMD): about.png Turning off/untick automatic graphics switching gives the same results. And no change to what Startools sees, i.e. it stil...

Re: StarTools 1.6 Final, 1.7 Alpha w/GPU acceleration
Hi Ivo, I just tried the Mac version of Startools 1.7 alpha and unfortunately, it crashes immediately after I clicked on Autodev. Here's the part of the log file: ******************* ----------------------------------------------------------- StarTools 1.7.402alpha Sat Jul 11 15:40:19 2020 ---------...

Random crashes (version 1.4.352)
Hi guys, Is anyone else having random crashes in Startools (1.4.352 or earlier)? I am having random crashes that do not correlate with anything that I'm doing in ST. It happens at any time and it is really annoying! I don't think there is an easy way to recover my work besides reading the log file a...

Re: Help: Can this noisy image be improved?
Hi Ivo Thanks for the explanations and links. It's most helpful. I agree that calibration should be done before stretching. And it is interesting that StarTools is able to do it in the end. However, I think colourization is an aesthetic and therefore subjective. I think you recognize that because yo...

Re: Help: Can this noisy image be improved?
Hi Ivo, I forgot, I do have a Haida UV filter right at the front of the FSQ106 to protect the lens.I'd be really surprised if it introduces purple. However, I'll try without the filter when the sky clears (unfortunately, it's inclement weather here as far as the eye can see for the next 10 days). OT...
