Re: M 101
Ivo, Thanks for the suggestions... I have been busy trying different processes. I switched to .289 (I hope that's right; I didn't see .286) I tried leaving out decon to no avail. I'm a bit confused about how to use denoise setup. From what I read, it sounds like sometime before doing final denoise y...
Re: M 101
Thanks Ivo! Originally, I did use decon with AutoMask. Also, I used Life with Isolate on the full mask set. I just reprocessed this data again, and bumped up RNC from 3.26% to 5.58%. Anymore appeared to degrade detail. Here's the link: http://astrob.in/97222/C/ I'm not sure I can tell which one I pr...

Hello all,
I haven't visited this site in a while, but have been using StarTools exclusively for processing and continue to love it!
Here's a recent image of M 101. Comments & suggestions encouraged.

Re: Video: M42 H-alpha High Dynamic Range composite processi
Here's my latest attempt: http://astrob.in/90745/B/ Ivo, You are very patient!! I don't know how I did not see that black band across the top! Anyhow, I recropped a few times, to get rid of stacking artifacts and get each stack in synch, then reprocessed in Startools with 2 main differences. 1) I us...

Here's the log from the current image in case this helps. Also, I will be happy to delete the old logs I have included to tidy up this thread if need be. Re: Video: M42 H-alpha High Dynamic Range composite processi
Ivo. I so appreciate your help with this, and I want to reprocess this image using your suggestions, but I'm having a problem figuring out where I should further crop the starting image stacks, as I don't see where I missed additional stacking artifacts. I first cropped the 2 stacks in Nebulosity to...

Re: Video: M42 H-alpha High Dynamic Range composite processi
OK, here's my current product, emulating with some personal interpretation the method used in the above tutorial. I did wait to add color after using Layers to combine the 2 stacks. I would love to hear comments... Also, I may do it all over using the Color module individually for each stack. Any op...

Re: Video: M42 H-alpha High Dynamic Range composite processi
Thank you again Ivo! I thought it was probably something simple. Somehow I missed the Filter Kernal radius in the tutorial. And I didn't notice the Offset X and Y controls right there in the Layers window. Very handy! I continue to be impressed with your software the more I learn how to use it! I pu...

Re: Video: M42 H-alpha High Dynamic Range composite processi
Ivo,
After quite some work I was able to get the short and long file to synch. I tried both 1/2 unity and the other suggested filter, and this is where I am:
Can this image be made to work the way i would like?
Cheers, Tom
