Re: Masking, I Really Need Help to Understand it

Hi Caley, The license and instructions should be in your Inbox. Given that you're still on the fence on whether ST is going to work out for you (of course I hope/think it will, but I'm a little biased :D) I'm happy to give you a refund if we can't get your data to look half decent in a way you can r...

Re: Masking, I Really Need Help to Understand it

Hi Caley, Some great help here already. Somehow getting a data set to us would be extremely helpful; 200Mb is typically doable with even modest broadband connections. Something like Dropbox will just keep uploading in the background while your computer is switched on - once it's been uploaded to Dro...

Re: M33

Thanks Prabhakar, that's very helpful! I can see you don't do a re-stretch of your data after applying Wipe. In most cases Wipe will have freed up dynamic range that was formerly allocated to gradients and/or color bias. Redoing you stretch will help make the most of the newly available dynamic rang...

Re: M20 Trifid Nebula - LHaRGB with synthetic Lum

I opened it all using LRGB, capped green and fired up the Colour module. The initial colours looked pretty good, but although I theoretically prefer Scientific, I ended up using Artistic Detailed because the former was just looking too garish. I used 50:50/CIEL, leaving Red/Blue as is, and downbias...

That Ha adds a lot of punch for sure!
How did you process and combine color and luminance if I may ask?

Re: M33

Ivo, Yes after stack this is fully processed with startools. In Autodev i set outside ROI to 15% i guess. Here's the fits, if you would like to take a look. http://www.astrobin.com/tmpzips/10e40bf7-053e-4b6b-bd66-11eea.zip Thanks, but it appears the zip is no longer available... If you could post t...

Re: StarTools 1.3.5.289

Hi Marco, Thanks for sharing the data. I downloaded it and tried to load it into StarTools. It took a long time (3-4 mins), but it eventually completed. The cause for the long delay is an enormous amount of missing/'coerrpt' data (numbers that fall outside the in the FITS file specified range, or nu...

Re: M33

Great colors and detail indeed! Have to agree with Alvinillo that probably the only flaw with this image is that there is some pretty bad clipping going on. I'm wondering what caused this (as it's pretty hard to clip your data in StarTools). Was this image processed fully in StarTools? Did you maybe...

Ooooers... That pops! The shells are very 3D looking. You managed great colors too; judging by the star field it's very well balanced.
