Re: When to make a synthetic luminance?

By synthetic chrominance, you mean the colours? If so, my understanding is that all you want from this are the colours. All details including contrast, sharpness etc come from the luminance so fully processing the chrominance would't really provide any new information. It is important to de-noise fu...

Re: M45 red sky

Not a bad image considering the light pollution.

Here's my attempt https://www.flickr.com/gp/rkonrad/he5276

I'll attach a log file when Christmas is over... generally I like the isolate life module a lot. Try it without a mask.

Merry Christmas to all!

Re: New video tutorials?

I have thought about making one to two videos but don't want people to think this is the very best way as I am learning too. If I submit one , I would be most appreciative of feedback from the more experience users/admin, and then perhaps make another one with the corrections etc. This way it could ...

Re: Rosette Nebula Procesing

Interesting tutorial. That one's new to me Dave. Hi Azkabar, I gave your image a try as well. See what you think. I don't have my log to post yet but will shortly. To summarize, I binned it by 35% (since there's not a lot of detail in the image), did minimal stretching under auto dev, tried to satur...

Re: Beginner looking for advice - M31

Just joining this thread to add a bit of advice re: colour module. When you have noisy or light polluted data - of even if it's good, I find the best way to achieve good accurate colour is to sample a portion of it, then apply the settings to the whole image. I worked on the image a bit, though not ...

Another M31...

This is just a repeat of an image - and the only image I've taken under relatively dark skies:( I'm better at processing now so this would be an update. Taken with a unmodified Canon 600D and Tamron 70-300 lens at 300mm. F/8, 400 iso. 15x225 sec lights (56 min total) including all calibration frames...

Re: Cyan stars, is this normal?

Hi Cytan, Attached is the log file for one of the processing attempts I used. I'm afraid I'm sure which one was more successful - nevertheless my steps are similar. There's a lot of data in the log file so I isolated it. Cheers Richard File loaded [/home/rkonrad/Downloads/startools-example/more/crop...

Re: Cyan stars, is this normal?

Cytan

Thanks for the spec of your equipment
I got distracted by my processing and forgot about the cyan stars:)

Have you tried selecting the stars for sampling in the colour module? I think I tried this but wasn't happy with the galaxy colour. I'll post the log in a day or so.

Cheers Richard

Re: Cyan stars, is this normal?

HI Cytan There appears to be quite a lot of dark anomalies in your data. That may account for weird colours and some greens which I was not completely able to avoid. The toughest part was the wipe. 1. I did a healthy crop on the image especially focussing on the bottom edge. 2. With "wipe" I first d...

Re: Cyan stars, is this normal?

I'm an intermediate user but perhaps I can help. Looks also like there is a lot of green happening in your image as well. I also noticed large band on the right hand edge of your image. If my image looked like that I would assume the wipe module didn't accurately do its job. Did you crop out the art...
