A soso Christmas tree, cone nebulae
A soso picture... Culprit was the moon. She was horenduous shining, high up, far over half as i remember and far more then i bargained for.. I used a L-enhance filter but was anyway struck with some big halo forming in the stack.. I could not get it out. Wipe could not, DBE in PI neither. It...

Re: IC 434 Horsey Test
It looks better to me , Mike. To red, well the background seems a liitle reddish , then again maybe too subtle to mention. Great stars, Alnitak is extremely well controlled. It is a riddle to me that Startools on some occasions does a tremenduous job with less effort for the user. My Alnitak at the ...

Re: OK, so a Tadpoles Startools version - SHO color palet -IC 410
. For scientific purposes, I opened a picture of my backyard in Gimp. Copied it and applied a Guassian blur, then subtracted that off the original, and then took that result and added it to the original. Yep things looked "sharper," though the power wires ended up with an electrified appearance aro...

Re: Yes, another M42, it is this time of year....
Thanks Stefan, Yes i also find the the red should have more punch. Can't see much mottling either, i did not use starnet nor separated the stars from the nebulae. Off course 2h38 is not much integration either , certainly not with a shiny moon in the sky.. I just made a hybrid, in wich i like the co...

Re: Yes, another M42, it is this time of year....
No Mike, no starremoval whatsovever. Everything stayed at Startools. Sure tried in PI too but the outcome was, well not just as good... I used HOO because i had placed the L-enhance filter. In fact i find it better on M42 too use no filter at all, but since the moon was shinning very bright i instal...

Yes, another M42, it is this time of year....
Another M42, must say a bit less colorfull then Stefans approach. It was a troubelsome evening. I put the rig a bit more north in my little garden, just enough to get me into trouble....Not used to this specific place i could not polar align, because i could not adjust the mount in alt az, i ran out...

I too checked out your astrobin for the PI edit, Freddy. Indeed things look rather sharp in comparison. But I really don't know how to evaluate sharpening as it relates to reality, especially unsharp mask. Post-tracking, I did play around a bit with the wavelet sharpen in ST, and the unsharp mask i...

Re: OK, so a Tadpoles Startools version - SHO color palet -IC 410
Hi Freddy, this is what I came up with: IC410_Freddy.jpg Disclaimer: I have absolutely no experience in processing mono/SHO data sets nor data coming from refractors. My first thought was: "Where are the spikes"... This is a pretty straight forward processing. No fancy stuff. SHO matrix was one of ...

Re: OK, so a Tadpoles Startools version - SHO color palet -IC 410
Thanks Mike for trying, Yeah a real pity of the framing. When i first noticed it, i felt like slamming myself. Alot of the otherwise beautifull surroundigs are a bit lost. And yes it comes out a bit muschy in Startools, doesn't it. Splitting the image in starless and stars and using unscharp mask fo...
