Cone

Here for your elucidation... Seeing conditions were a bit of a bear, haze, boiling stars, clouds but fairly dark. No rain nor snow, there's a drought on.

My Hawaian friend says it looks like duck...

Re: Where is the tail of lovejoy?

Marco; Here's a procedure I've worked out for comets with aditional comments on STools on the bottom. Ok if I share what works for me? 1) Take timed sequenced lights with your acquisition software. Must be equally time for exposure and interval. (I use BYEos) 2) The name of the lights need to be alp...

Re: Where is the tail of lovejoy?

Looking at your info, it may be that with an F7 system and moon up that you're going to be pushing you're luck. And any LP would make it alot harder. Here's what I did with F5.75, 5@120s, iso800, Canon 60Da, no moon and Sierra skies about the same time. It's also possible that the higher iso is clip...

Coalescing stars using Magic & Emmision nebulae Color

So I've improved this Cocoon shot, :D (read AstroBin Description). Then used the Magic module to shrink the stars to accentuate the nebulosity. Looking good so far... except there is an coalescing effect to the stars. :( I wan't to shrink the stars not just make them fainter which I can do using Lay...

Re: California Color

I've had a thought... :!: Hey it happens sometime. I wonder how the near infrared quanta are assigned color in the visible spectrum that we see on the monitor or printed. This Nebulae has a lot of H beta emission to it. One thing I would like to improve is a way to perhaps spread the color sp...

Re: California Color

Your camera might behave similar to mine. I've seen that halo effect pretty prominently on the old style glass plate photos where the light bounces around internally between the parallel surfaces. Course I do it with mirrors. :eusa-dance: I'd do that remove filter plate experiment when the dew temp ...

Re: California Color

Charmain, interesting color observation. I see that the camera you use has good Ha response. My 60Da has some but by no means a full response. yet our Nebulae color match pretty closely. I had an earlier effort where I made it more red. It was done a month ago in hazy conditions but came out pretty l...

California Color

Here's one night worth of the California Nebulae. What do you all think of the color balance with the Canon 60Da? Zinfadel? I had a bit of trouble getting wine rings around the stars in the nebulae till I figured out how to use Mask Fuzz in the Color Module. http://astrob.in/138574/0/rawthumb/galler...
