Re: Does anyone have any general tips for getting good dual band (HOO) color?

Which thread is that on the white in bicolor? Yeah I think you may be right on the soul/heart being overprocessed for that oiii Carina has a lot of oiii though and my data looked like I got a lot, though less than normal since I shot it at 5* elevation and there was some atmospheric extinction, but ...

Does anyone have any general tips for getting good dual band (HOO) color?

This is not a specific troubleshooting since I haven't got any fresh on my mind, but every time I try to process HOO data I can't get good color separation (with the exception of veil nebula). What usually happens is the data will initially be very pink dominant, then if I try to adjust colors in co...

Re: More advanced channel combination ideas/workflow (Ha added to L and RGB)

Ok thanks. So if I follow that then the Ha component gets added to Lum since it is added to the red channel which is then added. Is there any difference or benefit if it was added separately to L to contribute more or is it the same?

Re: More advanced channel combination ideas/workflow (Ha added to L and RGB)

I'm still curious about the best way to go about this

I have another project now with LRGB and Ha data (flaming star) I would like to combine

Re: Why do some images look great autostretched in my stacker but turn into a noisy flat mess in startools?

Quite a few things to unpack here. However to answer the question posed in the title of this thread; "Because other software hides the true quality of your data from you, and ST does not." StarTools' philosophy is that you cannot take into account what you cannot see ; knowledge is power. 1. One of...

Re: Why do some images look great autostretched in my stacker but turn into a noisy flat mess in startools?

I just played around with your data quickly. It's sublime - what gear did you use? Anyway, I tend to be a bit heavy-handed but here are three versions that show how you can come out the other end if you press on through Auto Dev: https://1drv.ms/u/s!AqovBuVZMwj3kdcqY64YUdwczXdKYA?e=hdbG5F I'm sure ...

Why do some images look great autostretched in my stacker but turn into a noisy flat mess in startools?

Ive encountered this a number of times... sometimes I can get great images out of ST and sometimes it just doesn't seem to work. After stacking in astro pixel processor it applies an auto stretch, and my data there looks amazing autostrethed (or if I open in pixinsight and click the screen transfer ...

More advanced channel combination ideas/workflow (Ha added to L and RGB)

I have some targets in mind that I think could benefit from this but I'm not sure the best way to approach it. It might be able to be done before bring to compose in ST but not sure the best way to do it. For example I want to shoot M78 region wideish that will get some of barnard's loop. So it's a ...

Proxy resolution processing for big mosaics

I'm interested in making some mosaics, but I know my computer would really struggle processing them from how it handles normal 26mp and 61mp files. I'm interested in making some multi panel mosaics that could end up being 200 megapixels+. I also know with some of the algorithms involved this might n...

Re: Looking for some clarity on synthetic luminance generation

Ok I did some tests just looking for star size Just the integrated luminance frames, then integrating RGB and L together, then RGB+synthetic L from startools with exposure weights then saved it. So the straight Luminance stack has the lowest FWHM at 2.479. The combined RGB+L integration has a median...
