Hi Michele,
Sorry I can't answer your questions though I think best on my feet. If you would like to forward your linear files I could try to help you - especially regarding the pink/orange colour of the image. The HA is really wonderful by the way - nice job!

Re: Rosette Nebula Procesing
HI Seb
Sorry I didn't post the log. Since then I've upgraded and so lost my log file - will try to reprocess sometime soon. All the best.

I"m trying to understand what this means - sorry I'm not getting it from the help function. I have found that when doing an isolate under Life, with or without mask, that if I raise this value, the DSO is less glowing/blurred. When I want to retain more detail I up this value. I wouldn't mind knowin...

Re: Dark Anomoly Headroom and more..
Thanks Ivo, That's very helpful. I have experimented with using the dark anomaly setting in the contrast module to get a more general contrast that excludes such details as stars and other larger detail. By further adjusting the DA Headroom, I am now making those "anomalies" brighter or darker - cor...

Dark Anomoly Headroom and more..
I was wondering if someone could explain this to me. Though I've read the help note on the software, I can't seem to grasp the concept. I'm going to put together a video and think I should be able to explain this to viewers - especially since I've just started to play around with it and am happy wit...

Re: Raw to linear tiff/fits
Hi Peter
Once you stack all your raw images your result is linear. As far as the science is concerned, I welcome other comments as I'm out of my field here. Sorry I can't be of more help!
Cheers

Re: Raw to linear tiff/fits
Hi Peter,
What stacking programme do you use? The resultant tiff should not be stretched and linear means there is no curve applied. I use DeepSkyStacker. I believe you can view it stretched but there's an option to save it unadjusted.
Cheers Richard

Re: Raw to linear tiff/fits
Hi Peter,
When you stack photos in a programme such as DeepSkyStacker or whatever you may use, assuming you do, the result file would automatically be linear.

Nice job and welcome to startools! Theres some nice detail and good separation of the background. I'm wondering about your colours though. The running man is supposed to be blue and m42 should have a balance of blue in it as well. If you're interested in my opinion feel free to post your original ti...

Re: When to make a synthetic luminance?
There's a thread that I believe Ivo posted - sorry I don't have time to find it - which talks about this. Recalling, you should denoise fully before combining so not necessary afterwards. The denoise only works effectively(/perfectly) during tracking ( initial stages).
