Flats with optolong l-enhance
Hi all, Since I see there are some users using this filter, I have the following question. I'm trying to get flat frames with an Optolong L-Enhance filter. Without the filter I get good quality flats, but with the filter the histogram shows the three color channels quite separated. I guess is normal...

Re: Help with M42 + CLS filter
Hi, I would like to know and understand the logic behind composing in this way when using a narrowband filter (even if it does not apply to this case), cause to be honest I don't know why do I need to load the channels in this way, and why to set the luminance to that option A duo/tri/quad band fil...

Re: About walking noise
I think the term "defect" pixels is misleading. We should be aware of the amount of this issue. Let me try a simplified wrap-up: E.g. a typical DSLR will create data with 14-bit depth, i.e. the Least Significant Bit (LSB) would be 14. Lets assume we have a "defect" with the amount of 0.5 LSB (= bit...

Re: About walking noise
Thanks for the explanation, Ivo. That was more or less the idea I had. So, basically, the problem is due to a pixel(s) problem, similar to a classical hot pixel, but weaker, right? Correct! Does it happen very often in the sensor? It does, particularly when the real signal is faint. Also, that pixe...

Re: Good flats?
It's sort of hard to say whether a flat is "good". It is "good" if it adequately describes any uneven lighting happening in your imaging train. Does the master flat correct uneven lighting correctly in your stacks? Thanks for the reply Ivo. To be honest, I don't notice a big difference whichever co...

About walking noise
Hi all, I've been reading about walking noise concept. It seems is the same than correlated noise, isn't it? It don't fully understand how is originated this noise. I've read that is due to imperfections in the sensor, and that stacking subs makes the noise worse, not better. Also, dithering seems t...

Yes, I also thought about it. I support it!
