I guess I am missing something, but why can't I save the image when done? If I rename the file, I get this error (attached). If I overwrite the original file, it works, but I shouldn't have to do that, right?

Try adding a .tiff or .jpg extension. E.g try saving "myfile.tiff" instead of "myfile". That should do the trick.
