The Latest Teeny Galaxy

This text and image were uploaded to Astrobin this morning. https://www.astrobin.com/cgdw5d/

NGC 7513-The Sculpted Galaxy

Here is a tiny (1.6 arc minutes) galaxy that is new to Astrobin. NGC 7513 has been imaged by Hubble, but I haven’t found any other hi res images of this image from professional or amateur telescopes.

NGC 7513 is a straight ahead barred spiral, with irregular circumnuclear dust. My favorite part of this image is the elusive dwarf galaxy companion. According to Simbad, this is 2dFGRS TGS265Z008, and its magnitude is 16.754.

This galaxy is a “peculiar” galaxy, as defined by the Catalog of Southern Peculiar Galaxies and Associations, by Halton Arp and Barry Madore. It meets three criteria:

Category 8, spiral with dwarf companion
Category 20, dwarf companion
Category 19, background cluster of galaxies

It's hard to convey how amazing your images are. At first glance, they look like "just another galaxy". It's only once you realize how rarely they are imaged, and how detailed you are showing them here, the magnitude of your achievements on these becomes clear. :bow-yellow:

He did in indeed make that magnitude clear!

Stunning. I went hunting for this on Stellarium after you posted it. I'm sure this would just be another faint smudge in the background for me.
