NGC 3576 Statue of Liberty Nebula under Full Moon

Captured NGC 3576 Statue of Liberty Nebula during a full moon and using my Antlia ALPT 5nm OSC Dualband filter

Below is my workflow for this image for those who are interested
Just remembering that workflows vary from image to image so just using this workflow with its parameters may not produce a satisfactory result on your specific data set
It’s only used as a general guide

Workflow NGC 3576 Statue of Liberty Nebula using Antlia ALPT OSC Dualband filter

Note: During using each module and Star Mask use both the Zoom in Zoom out buttons and Before and After buttons to review adjustments and changes in image

Open Startools
Select Compose at top to load your data set
Set Luminance Color to L+ Synthetic L from R (2xG) B, R (GB) (GB) ( Bi Color from OSC / DSLR )
Load data set into Red / Sii
Load data set into Green / Ha
Load data set into Blue /Oiii
Once all loaded press Keep then Linear
Select AutoDev module then press Keep
Select Bin module and adjust to 65% using bottom slider then press Keep

Select Crop module , drag across image to crop edges ( new image size 3974 x 2642 )
Press Keep

Select Wipe module then press Narrowband preset
Increase Dark Anomaly Filter to 2 pixels
Press Keep then Ok then Keep

Press AutoDev module again for final stretch
Select Redo global stretch
Drag a ROI ( region of interest ) around main structures
Set Ignore Fine detail to 2.5 pixels
Reduce Detector Gamma to 0.80
Press Keep

Select Contrast module
Default settings except
Change Brightness retention to Darken Only
Press Keep

Didn’t use HDR module

Select Sharp module then Next
Press Auto generate Mask
Default settings except reduce High SNR Size Bias to 65%
Press Keep

Select Mask then Clear then Keep

Select SV Decon module then choose Auto generate extra sensitive mask
Wait 1 minute then select Sampling button at top right
Zoom in to 300% and select about 24 Star samples with green cores or yellow / green cores across whole image
Once samples are processed ( time out complete ) press Result
Increased iterations from default 10 to 17 to increase Deconvolution
Increase De ringing amount to 0.95
Increase De ringing detect to 90%
When Decon complete press Keep
Select Mask then Clear then Keep

Select Mask then Auto , set Filter Sensitivity to 1, then press Do
Press Shrink once then Keep
Select Shrink module then press Keep mask as is
Use default values ie iterations 10 and Mode Tighten
Press Keep

Select Mask then Invert then Keep

Select Super Structure module then Keep Mask as is
Select Brighten preset at top
Adjust Gamma to 0.30
Adjust Strength to 95%
Press Keep

Select Super Structure module again , set full Mask and choose Isolate preset at top
Adjust Strength to 20%
Press Keep
NB: Generally you shouldn’t use the same module twice !! But I sometimes I do, only with Sharp and Super Structure.

Select Mask then Clear

Select Color then choose Fill Mask button
Set Matrix to H ( H+O ) O Duoband 100R , 50R + 25G + 25B, 50G+ 50B
Style Scientific ( Colour Constancy)
Saturation Amount 220%
Bright Saturation set to 6.0
Dark Saturation set to 4.0
LRGB Method Emulation 50/50 Layering CIELab Luminance Retention
Bias slider Mode Sliders reduce colour bias
Red Bias 2.80
Green Bias 1.00
Blue Bias 1.00
When completed press Keep

Select Track/NR module then choose Apply noise reduction
Increase Grain size to 4 pixels then press Next
Once noise reduction is complete press Keep

Image processing completed

Select Save at top to save final image to nominated location in PC

Nice, Martin. I like those grayscales too. :thumbsup:

DEC -61. Sigh. You've done it again. :lol:

Oh well, I suppose we do the same with M81/82 and all else. There's great stuff everywhere, but south celestial does seem awfully nifty.

Is that the same data on a-bin but as different uploads rather than revisions? :think:

All images same data and obviously different Color

I added my workflow as I’ve seen folk ask for help on a few occasions processing with OSC and Dualband filter datasets

Looking forward to our Galaxy season ( March to June ) in the Southern Hemisphere
