Processing bi-colour data with modest data

Post by Rkonrad »

I've just completed 2 tutorials (part1 and part 2) using Simon's recent data on a wide field view of the Bubble Nebula and NGC 7538. (viewtopic.php?f=10&t=1514) I hope it's helpful.

Note: I chose to process the two pieces of data, Ha and Oiii separately, then combine them to give the Oiii more prominence. The best way to do this when the signal in Oiii (and Sii) is more strong is to load them up as linear data (non-streched) in the compose module as L R G B and process in the standard manner. However, I was unable to get any of the Oiii colour to come out using this technique. Also, I choose to bin data (more aggressively) once the luminance was at it's height during the processing as I find premature binning, with the exception of very noisy images where nebulocity is not a concern, reduces detail in the shadows..

Also, in the video (part 1) I chose to bin the image further after the life isolate. I think you can do this before that stage to save time.

Cheers Richard
