Her's several tries from the log:

ile saved [/Users/trobbe/Documents/Neb o folder/M-42 w/RM D.tiff].
File saved [/Users/trobbe/Documents/Neb o folder/M-42 w/ RM D.tiff].
File saved [/Users/trobbe/Documents/Neb o folder/M-42 w/RM D 52.tiff].
File saved [/Users/trobbe/Documents/Neb o folder/M-42/ D 505,TIFF.tiff].

The one thing all those files seem to have in common, is that there is a space in their file names.
I can't really see how that would constitute a problem, but it's worth trying out...
Would you be able to check for me if saving in the root of the Documents folder (e.g. /Users/trobbe/Documents/) using a filename that contains no spaces, does consistently work ok?

File saved [/Users/trobbe/Documents/M42w/RMD.tiff].

This try was not successful...

I attempted to answer more of your question in a post that appears to have gotten lost. Under permissions it reads: "trobbe (Me) read Write"
The only app I can remamber adding since ST's is Nebulosity, but that was added 2-3 weeks prior to this problem. I will check further, in case I forgot something...
Sorry, this isn't going well, I really like ST's and worry I'm doing something stupid to cause this problem. Would it make any sense to try an older version of ST's? I also have an older Mac Desktop, but is limited as it will not take more than its 2.5 gigs of RAM, but I could try that...

For whatever reason I just tried another file with no spaces, and its there! It Saved! But, still there must be 12-20 other attempts that still have not showed. For now if i get 1 out of 20., that makes me hopeful...

3 in a row!!!! success!!! I think it may have been the hyphen...

or maybe it the forward slash? Anyhow I seem to be able to save consistently leaving out"/ " or "-". I'll figure it out. Anyhow, I'm happy now!!
