Please - a full manual with no 'not yet written' sections

Post by Lawrence »

The subject line says it all.

I cannot understand many of the options and large sections of the notes say 'not yet written'.

Until I can understand what Star Tools does, I can't use it properly.

I am disappointed with the lack of a reply. It was a very simple request.....

Hi Lawrence,

I've been trying to contact you, however all my attempts are being thrown out by a spam filter on your email provider's side (email address redacted);

Code: Select all

Delivery to the following recipient failed permanently:

     l******@a********.plus.com

Technical details of permanent failure:
Google tried to deliver your message, but it was rejected by the server for the recipient domain a********.plus.com by mx.avasin.plus.net. [212.159.9.200].

The error that the other server returned was:
552 Spam Message Rejected
The message was as follows;
Thank you for your message.
Have you had a look at the "Unofficial" 1.3.5 StarTools manual?

http://download.startools.org/StarTools ... ficial.pdf

You can find the version number of your StarTools executable in the
lower left corner of the home screen, as well as in the about section.

Does this help?

Hello Ivo

Sorry that you've had a problem replying. I receive email without problems on my normal email address l*e@a*r.plus.com - but surely replies would be posted on the forum?

To answer your query about using the 'unofficial' help file, yes I have been reading through it carefully but it does say that it relates to a very early edition and that I (anyone) should get an updated manual (of which none appear to exist). The latest (repeated) download remains full of 'not yet written' sections but note that one has to download a file to see what version it is..... and then discover it is the same version as before. Could you show version numbers with the versions to avoid repeated downloads?

:thumbsup:

Happy to help you troubleshoot/test if needed! (indeed, this obviously does not impact replies on the forum).

The "new"/incomplete manual updates automatically with the website content, so it is always in sync.

The unofficial 1.3.5 manual reflects much of StarTools' functionality, however is getting more and more out of date, especially with the 1.4.x releases. The trouble is that, given 1.4.x is still in alpha, the UI, look and feel is still in flux, so (re)writing a comprehensive manual - including screen shots - that accurately reflects 1.4.x, is a moving target at current.

Are there any particular things you are struggling with or would like to know more about?
