ic2233 and autodev problem

Post by alacant »

Hi everyone
AutoDev - Bin - Crop - Autodev - Decon - grain remove
Image here

Problem/question: How do you set the ROI for the second Autodev when only small objects of interest are present? Specifically, if I set the ROI small on say around the centre of a galaxy, the stars bloat and it looks as though I've used Develop instead. If I have a larger ROI i've too much stretch and noise.

Excuse the blankness, I am in the middle of setting up a new refurbed PC and have not done the graphics card yet.
The ROI I created was very small and narrow over just the galaxy.

Hi and thanks for your process.
In fact this illustrates exactly what I was trying to describe. The smaller the roi, the more the stars bloat and look more like they've been done using PI/PS. Or even our very own Develop.

Cheers and thanks again:)

Something that may help; if you have an RoI you're happy with, but want to precisely allocate some dynamic range to all the stuff outside the RoI, use the Outside RoI Influence parameter.

And always remember that all we're doing here is getting a global stretch. If you have detail that needs enhancing locally, use Contrast, HDR, Sharp, etc.

I had used just 4% of outside Roi influence perhaps that needed to be 0%.

Actually, setting RoI to 0% may (or usually - will) clip your black point. Unless you are absolutely sure that all the stretch that is best for the RoI also will lift the black point enough in the rest of the image.
